@Barbara – Excellent idea to join school and alumni groups as another source of support and connections. The value of groups is often overlooked on LinkedIn.

There are many alumni groups on LinkedIn. I’m sure many older people have joined those groups and not bothered to sign up for the school’s alumni Web site. New grads can meet their fellows on LinkedIn.

LinkedIn recently set up http://grads.linkedin.com with help for students to set up their accounts.
